Love Affair with Mississippi Studios

My infatuation with Mississippi Studios continued tonight, and possibly grew even stronger than before.

The majority of the shows I've seen since being back in Portland in the past two years, have been there. ...Which doesn't say much, but I think it is a fantastic place for a show; the artists all seem to agree and also profess their adoration of the venue.

Artists are gods on the stage but seamlessly transform into any-average-Joe (or Josephine) once they are finished and mingle in the crowd. We stare in awe while they perform but have the wonderful opportunity to talk with them after their performance; tell them how amazed and dazzled we all were, meet them and talk about their music and their backgrounds. It seems very one-sided (and yes, there is definitely more ogling done from the audience) but they are always very interested in what brought us there as well....and we ask for it, time and again!

Tonight I caught a spur-of-the-moment show there featuring the Blue Horns, Sassparilla Jug Band, with Casey Neill and the Norway Rats headlining.

They were all fantastic and not a moment was spent standing still. Im so glad I went. Although, if there was ever any thought that I was going deaf before, tonight put a nail in the coffin!
