to love and be loved,

you taught me

to stand up for myself,

to endure hardships with grace and class,

and with my head held high.

how to garden, do laundry, to cook,

how to be responsible.

you are

strong even when it's difficult to be,

forgiving when we snap at you,

selfless and giving, never doing for yourself,

beautiful even when you can't see it, and,
above all else,
